DomainKeys Identified Mail, known popularly as DKIM, is a security protocol designed for the email security of both sender and recipient email servers. It appears in the form of a CNAME record or a TXT record. DKIM helps all email servers confirm whether the received email has been sent from an authentic source. In DKIM, a digital signature is encrypted and added to the email. Once received, the recipient server checks the signature and confirms whether it belongs to a trusted domain or not, thereby authenticating the email.

Steps To Set Up DKIM, Cloudflare
The process of setting up DKIM in Cloudflare is relatively straightforward, even though it might look complicated. One has to do it the right way without any error since every step is essential.
As the first step, the DKIM Record of the domain must be generated. To do so,
- Visit the dashboard.
- Enter the settings section.
- Click on the option that says, “Authenticate Your Domain.”
- Select the name of the DNS host.
- Feed-in the name of the domain you wish to authenticate.
The DKIM Record has been thus generated. Next, the user will have to publish the DKIM record. Once the record has been created and published, follow the steps below to set up DKIM in Cloudflare.
- Firstly, the user must log in to their Cloudflare account after entering the password.
- After logging in, visit the dashboard section.
- Find the domain to which one needs to add the DKIM record to and then click on it.
- Locate the DNS Section and then select it.
- Once opened, there will be a section where one can create new records. Create the new record there. To do so, fill up the parameters required as shown below:
- Hostname: Enter the TXT record name provided.
- Type: Select the TXT type.
- Value: Enter the TXT record value provided.
After pressing ‘Enter’ following the filling up of details, the DKIM record should be published within 30 minutes to an hour. Thus, the DKIM will have been set up for your domain hosted through Cloudflare.
