DuoCircle, an email security company, has just completed its first scholarship program offering a $1000 award for the best essay or video on email privacy and security.

Specific topics covered included the following:

  • How can the underlying causes of phishing be addressed?
  • What will change in email security in the next 10 years?
  • How would you teach older folks or children to avoid phishing and protect their privacy?

There were many good essays and a handful of videos from high school and college students. Some of the entries for the DuoCircle Scholarship can be found here.

The winner of the first DuoCircle scholarship is a student at Brigham Young University, majoring in computer science. The student created this YouTube video teaching older folks how to prevent phishing attacks.

Brad Slavin CEO of DuoCircle who sits on multiple scholarship committees including the David Rubenstein Memorial Scholarship felt that “The costs of education place a massive burden on our future generations. Anything we as good corporate citizens can do to ease the long term stress of a 4 year education, we should be doing it. This is our part to help inspire science and math – STEM undergraduates with their tuition expenses”

Congratulations to the winner on her effort and the message it contains. We want to thank all of the entrants and wish them well as they continue their studies and stay safe online.
